We use the quoting tool sometimes. How...Hey, Kurt.

We use the quoting tool sometimes. How's that?

For larger projects, we have an excel spreadsheet that allows us to lay out all of our costs item-by-item on one worksheet and then produce separate worksheets with client facing quote, detailed list of items to purchase (from Ingram or Synnex), and a pick-list for technicians so they can track when everything has been received and they can change the ticket status to "Schedule This."

The client facing quote has details on what we will do, but no part numbers or parts listed individually. This prevents shopping around. We have examples of this in a few books, including an entire chapter in The Network Migration Workbook.

If we have simpler quotes (e.g., three workstations, three printers, three copies of MS Office, three monitors, three UPSs), we will do those in Autotask because we can easily send an e-quote and get approval from the client. The wizard to convert quotes to service requests is pretty nice too.

We own QuoteWerks (three licenses, I believe), but everyone who has tried to use it was of the opinion that we're too low volume to get true value from it.
